Appama, as everyone in the Family calls her, is a regular attendee at the Vadakkini of the Amma Thampuran Kovilakam. As far as she knows, the variious Pujas for the Bhagavathy (Pazhayannur), Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu, were carried on from the days of yore and was only exempted when the members of the Cochin Royal Family are under the observance of 'Pula'  (which is a form of physical pollution or defilement) due to the birth of a newborn or the death of a family member.

The Morning Prayers and Pujas start from around 5:00 AM and continue on, till 10:00 AM. The Vadakkini is reopened in the evenings for Pujas.
